On Oct. 21, 2014, the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation (LWCC) announced the passing of founding board member Aubrey T. Temple, Jr. He was 68 years old.

Temple served as the founding chairman of the board of LWCC, a position he held for 20 years. He was named chairman emeritus in 2012 and continued his board service until the time of his death.

Announcing Temple’s passing, LWCC President and CEO Kristin Wall stated: “He will be remembered for his quick wit, tireless service, business acumen, and warm, engaging personality. Aubrey’s almost forty years of insurance experience, both on the company and the agency side has been invaluable to me and the LWCC board of directors. Throughout the years, Aubrey served on many boards and commissions including the Sabine River Authority, Office of Group Benefits of Louisiana, the Superdome Commission, Coastal Restoration Finance Authority, and various banking, civic and professional organizations. He collaborated with and supported Louisiana Governors, U.S. Senators and Congressmen, state treasurers, insurance commissioners, state legislators and a host of other governmental and business leaders in this state and elsewhere.”

Temple graduated from Northwestern State University in 1969 and began his career in the insurance industry in 1975. Prior to serving as chairman of the board for LWCC, Temple was a founding partner of Morris, Temple and Co., which grew into American Interstate Insurance Company/Amerisafe Insurance Co. He was also the CEO of the Temple Group, which later became the ICT Group (now part of Regions Insurance Group).
