See You at the IMCA Annual Meeting

By | May 2, 2011

There is one industry event I look forward to more than any other during the year. It’s the Insurance Marketing and Communications Association Annual Meeting. This year, it will take place at the Hilton Toronto from June 26-29.

It’s a chance for those working in marketing and communications to get together with their peers to learn about trends, how to use new technology to reach potential customers and how to differentiate their companies. There are some fantastic topics and speakers this year … too many for me to list, so you can check them out here: 2011 IMCA Schedule of Events.

The conference is also host to the Showcase Awards, where businesses in all facets of the insurance industry are recognized for their marketing talents and efforts. It’s an entertaining and high-energy night with an Oscars kind of feel. Top entries in each category are displayed throughout the conference, so you can get some great ideas and even check out what your competitors are up to!

In addition to the top notch presentations, this is the best networking and most socially-focused conference I have been to in the insurance industry. It is truly a friendly and welcoming group. I have made lasting friendships and look forward to seeing my buddies every year. One thing that is unique to this conference is the “Dine Around” night. There are signup sheets for 4 or 5 different types of restaurants nearby. You will end up going out to dinner with a big group and spending a few hours sharing ideas and experiences with some really interesting and fun people.

Does your company market to this audience? There are still some pretty visible sponsorship opportunities available. It’s a great way to get your company’s name in front of the biggest names in insurance. Last year’s attendee list included top marketing people from CNA, Liberty Mutual, Swiss Re and Fireman’s Fund just to name a few. Also in attendance were brokers and agents from all across the country. You can contact me directly to find out more about sponsorships. lknapp@insurancejournal.com

If you register before May 15, you can still take advantage of the “Early Bird” discount of $925 for members. It’s $1295 for non-members. Your registration covers most meals including the dinner at the Showcase Awards banquet.

And here’s an extra bonus … You can go out early or stay after the conference and catch the world-renowned Toronto Jazz Fest! http://torontojazz.com/festival
