Getting Physical at the Office

By | February 26, 2013

Some readers may remember a blog I wrote last year about how creativity and having fun are important keys for the success of your marketing efforts. In order to stay creative and feel pumped up to get the tasks done throughout each week, it’s a good practice to try to find ways to stay energized even when you feel like you’ve been behind that desk of yours for a century. Most of us have sedentary jobs. Work takes up a significant part of the day. What can you do to increase your physical activity during the work day so that you can be sure to keep the brain juices flowing and the creative chakras up to task? Here are some fancy tips to help you out!

  • Brainstorm project ideas with a co-worker while taking a walk.
  • Stand while talking on the telephone.
  • Walk down the hall to speak with someone rather than using the phone or Skype.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Or get off a few floors early and take the stairs the rest of the way.
  • Avoid snacking at your work desk.
  • Walk while waiting for the plane at the airport.
  • Stay at hotels with fitness centers or swimming pools and use them while on business trips.
  • Participate in or start a recreation league at your company.
  • Form a sports team to raise money for charity events.
  • Walk around your building for a break during the work day or during lunch.
  • You can even get your heart rate up by doing some simple exercises right at your desk!

It’s good to remember that there are easy remedies you can do at work to stay physical. Exercise makes your heart and your brain happy. Happy brains bring you happy work days, work weeks, as well as happy marketing campaign ideas! If you would like any ideas on how to create fun, new, out-of-the-box marketing ideas for print, online, in video or on the iPad, ask me how!
