Re: Agency In NC or SC
I operate an agency that acts in NC, SC, VA, GA, and TN. If I had the choice, I would say operate in SC. You have more coverages available and the rates aren't as controlled as they are in NC. Many carriers have backed out or pulled punches in underwriting appetite or coverage because of NC controll...

Re: Personal umbrella with commercial exposure on property
If possible, insure the business risk and the HO risk together with the same company. It would make it substantially easier to have a claim be covered since the insurance company is on the hook either way. It would also make it a lot easier to talk to an underwriter and ensure the coverages are in p...

Re: Designation Suggestions
How does the AAI compare to the CIC? Are they equivalent or is one more advanced than the other?
I have the CIC and was looking at the AAI but they seem very similar.

Re: Will old CPCU books work for the new CPCU exams?
Actually, in my biology degree, most of the teachers allowed older edition books since the material was very similar. The only ones that didn't were the ones that made you do specific questions out of the book like pg. 309 #1-6. Nearly 60% of the classes didn't care though and I saved a good bit of ...

Thoughts on some books?
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can give an opinion on the "insurance essentials" books from the National Alliance. There is one for P&C, L&H, and risk management. http://www.scic.com/store/essentials-package.html It's going to be a while before a CIC course in my area and I'm ...

Re: Will old CPCU books work for the new CPCU exams?
Awesome! What years were your books written then? Were they in like 2008 or something like that? Do you still have the titles? Did you find any of the information was incorrect like for ISO forms or anything like that? (haven't taken a test before.) I know from college old books usually work but I k...

Will old CPCU books work for the new CPCU exams?
I was looking online and found several older books (2000, 2006, 2009, etc.) for the CPCU exams whereas the CPCU website now has books that are first editions made in either 2012 or 2011. These books are far more expensive than the older counterparts. Would I be at any disadvantage using the older bo...
