Additional Insured on Commercial Property Policy?

Is there a such thing? I understand being named as mortgagee and loss payee, but people, especially banks are beginning to ask for AI status on property policies. Huh? Also, the acord 27 does have a box to check for additional insured which makes them even more adamant.

Any gurus out there?

Educate me on MGA's

Can someone explain to me what MGAs are? What is their role? Where do they fit it? Exactly what do they do?

Thank you

Dawgnacious,

Just curious.... Why do you like the agency side better than the company side? I haven't been in the industry long, maybe you have so anything you can share would be helpful.

Thanks for your comment

Hi All, Is it possible to break into underwriting from the brokerage side. To me it seems that if an underwriter wants to broaden their horizons and experience the broker side it works out perfectly fine. An underwriter can be hired as as an Account Manager or even an Account Executive. However, it ...

Oh yes, I do assist an Account Manager and AE. It would be sort of scary if I didn't. I used to be an underwriter, so I have coverage knowledge, but I do not know the broker side well. Also, I was only an underwriter for two years, straight out of college. So I am still a newbie in the insurance ind...

That is so true. I know of few people, except the most agressive, that will go out on a leap of faith. Speaking for myself, I enjoy the stability and safety of a stable income. However, if I knew that I could kick butt in sales, I'd surely go in that direction. But I don't think that's my calling.

You are wonderful wonderful wonderful. That's what I figured but I wasn't sure. I used the numbers my AE had in a spreadsheet and worked the math and that's the logic I came up with, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a coincidence that it worked that way.

Yes, you helped me so much. :)

I think maybe because some of us aren't good at sales. Now if you are good at sales, then your question is valid. ;)

Hi all, Love this site. Okay, this may be a silly question, but keep in mind that I am fairly new to the brokerage side of the business. I have been promoted to a junior account manager which is essentially a transitioning phase to prepare me for an account manager position. Problem is, I am confuse...
