Re: WC Audit & Subs
Here's from my State's WC Act: (a) A contractor who subcontracts all or any part of a contract and his insurer shall be liable for the payment of compensation to the employes of the subcontractor unless the subcontractor primarily liable for the payment of such compensation has secured its payment a...

Re: WC Audit
I'm going to be quoting the WC and hopefully become the BOR. Even if I am not the BOR for the WC I'm still going to consul the owners. On the State Workers Comp website it states: "Premium/Insured Fraud: committed by underreporting payroll or misclassifying payroll/job classifications." Ma...

WC audit and subcontractors
A quick question. I just received a call from the bookkeeper of a client and in their State Workers Comp Fund audit, SWCF is charging them for their sub-contractors that didn't carry WC. Ok, that can happen. The bookkeeper said she has never seen SWCF or any other insurance companies charge for non-...

I say you also go to the local pub and look for your employees that are sipping. What you didn't know alcohol was a drug? Unless something changed since my chemistry classes of 40 years ago, chemicals are chemicals. Doesn't really matter what you call them and an addiction is an addiction. My drug o...

Re: Cold Calls - telephone
The do not call list is not a myth. Although if you want, you can call your State AG office and discuss the merit of such a list. If your State is like mine you will find two things: 1. There is very minimal, if ever, civil proceedings in such matters. 2. After the initial list was built, it is not ...

Re: Cold calling is necessary
Even if you do things like, hang your hat with CPA's you may not get business from them. For 18 years, my wife worked at a CPA firm, the second largest located in the city of our State Capitol. I would go in and do presentations to the CPA's, brought in guests that did presentations, (some of the pr...

I always go with the best quote I can get from the UW. It's been my way since day one. hmmmm....isn't this the sort of stuff that got Marsh, AIG and others in trouble with the Spitz? Bottom line - the carrier needs to give their best quote - period. The days of having a better quote in your back poc...

Re: Respect Your Prospects
Mr Martin. I see you are new to this forum, which is fine but we all know about name games. There is only a minor que of people that are posting to this topic and I think we will need to agree to disagree. As much as I consider Howard Stern to be a good entertainer, I don't think I'd place his websi...

Well that is how sales are done and I've always appreciated that type of person. Why do people think sales people are pushy? Experienced, long term sales people know that pushy gets you no where except, staring out the client walking away. I've never bought from an obnoxious salesperson. Far too man...

And there you go, problem solved. Porter I like your tag line....always be closing. I've been in sales since 1975 or 74..no was that 76? Anyhow, a long time. My sisters are in sales, my brother-in-laws are in sales, my mother was in sales. I understand about closing and none of us came from the clot...

Re: Non-resident license-not so fast
Oops forgot this is a P&C site. I was talking about doing a life or annuity app here and there. As we all know the risk of E&O exposure is much, much less on a life app. The company does the APS / part 2 medical, etc. Then if there is a claim well...not much service is needed after that one....

I have an equally inquisitive question? What makes a good client from an agents perspective? I would put honesty at the top of the list. Your one thread that pointed to dishonest agents begs for the opposite response. There is an ever growing fraud being committed by the people that purchase insuran...

Hm? I've found someone of my same species. Been holding off on jumping into this thread because we are like fire and a match but.... Oh poppy-cock! You have far too much time on your hands. As one poster said, you will out type us. I use many different methods of selling and there are times that I n...
