Sending certs @ renewal

Personally, I think the best solution is to ask the client who needs a certificate. A company's insurance information, in my opinion, should be supplied only to those with a "need to know." Once that need has passed, there is no sense using your time to issue them nor to spread around your...

AZ contractor - what now?

How large is the agency you are dealing with - how many carriers do they represent? Did they advise you of their marketing efforts - how many carriers they approached and what were the results? You may need to contact a larger agency, perhaps an office of a large regional or national independent age...

National Contractors Ins Co RRG

You are a smart man to inquire into the financial strength of the insurer--too many insurance buyers consider price only. As others have noted, this entity does not receive the outside scrutiny of rating organizations such as AM Best and participation can be a real crap shoot. I work for a large nat...

Fraud

I think the original writer was just trying to determine if handwriting analysis could play a role in claims fraud investigations, thus was asking if any forms were ever handwritten.

Dealing with MGAs

These aren't necessarily in order ... --The markets they represent and the MGA's relationship with that market. --Experience and knowledge of the MGA's staff brokers. I don't want to waste my time with unskilled brokers. --I love it when an MGA broker can tell me what he/she can do (coverage and pri...

Pre-licensing teacher

Joe Agent, you'll either need to be hired by an approved Pre-licensing Education Provider in your state or become one (in addition to being approved as an instructor). Check with your state's insurance commission as to the requirements. You can't just put out a shingle.

Teaching P&C class

First and foremost you need expertise in the subject matter to be taught. I think most students are looking for someone with practical, long term experience and professional credentials. Couple that with teaching and speaking ability, so that your instruction is both informative and interesting. The...
