Acquisition, add producer(s), or read E-Myth. I am trying to go the E-Myth route. Alan.

New to industry

I did not read all of the posts as I don't have time, so my advice in a nutshell: 1. If you can, work for an agency/broker that will train you; it is very valuable knowledge & you will probably be better off in the long run if you do this, 2. If you aren't willing to or can't work for someone el...

Unlicensed contractor

You may have a bigger problem. As I read the following (State of California) Business and Professions Code, Section 7044 provides for an exemption from the contractor's license requirements for "owner/builders". Section 7044 reads, in part, as follows: Your prospect/client appears to be br...

A/I, Waivers, etc.. for "off-site" exposures

I am a broker in Southern California, and one of my largest clients is insured with American Safety. This client, as well as others I have, perform residential construction and some of the work is covered by WRAPs. This issue comes up ALL of the time, and the carriers will NOT allow us to issue A/Is...

Cemetary / Mortuary Program in CA

This is a more difficult market than you might imagine. Carriers are exiting the line on a continuous basis, you have a large regional agency with the CFDA endorsement and a direct writer from the Mid-West that has been chasing this business as of late.

Keeping Producers in the Dark

If your producers can not figure out where to get coverage placed you should replace them. Smart producers can figure out how/where to place coverage, and would wonder why the owner(s) want to keep them in the dark. Alan.

No I do not work for them. I am an independent agent who is also looking at ways to grow my book of business.

ISU

I can not speak as to the other entities, but I work for an ISU office and we are very pleased with the market access and assistance with other agents that we get with ISU. I would recommend giving them serious consideration. Alan.

ISU

I work for an ISU office, and we are very pleased. All ISU offices are independently owned and operated. ISU provides access to a large selection of carriers. I would recommend that you find out the type of carrier access you will have since it appears that you are out of California.

USLI insures our HOA. They have admitted paper. The name of the program manager escapes me right now. When I had an agent friend marke the HOA coverage for our HOA he also approached Chubb, Philly and AIG.

I hope this helps. Alan.

It is going to depend on what you want to do (commercial or personal insurance and sales or service). You will need to find a local broker that is willing to train you in whatever area you are interested in. You should plan on starting at the bottom and spending a lot of time studying the insurance ...

I personally do not use this forum for technical help or assistance placing business. Our office is part of a cluster group and when I have an i...
