CA Guaranty Fund
I'm somewhat mystified. It's my understanding that the CIGA fund is currently over $2 Billion in debt yet we have not had any CIGA surcharges in quite a few years. If it is verified that they are that far in debt, then why is the CIGA surcharge not resurrected.....especially during these trying econ...

90%+ of new condo construction in California is insured via wraps. Your client should avail himself of that if he has not automatically been included in a wrap. If he is opting out he is nuts unless he wants to pay $100,000+ for project specific GL. The 10% of condo construction in California that i...

First, the coverage form excluding prior work is quite common these days in California. Most insurers who exclude prior work [as differentiated from prior acts] allow work in progress at the inception of the policy to be covered. If it ain't broken don't fix it
Why would you think that in this market someone would be "competitive" with the Golden Beagle for a commercial plumbing contractor? From what I've seen they are the cheapest on the street especially if they are packaging it which no one else is doing......and they are admitted. If they can...

If a California based insured we can do this for you. As the insured is a Federal governmental contractor they are virtually immune for suits arising from their work for the government. I'm presuming that much of their work is on Interstates which are federal. If not a CA based contractor, but still...

Wake up. This is a hard market. Contractors aren't a slam dunk. If you don't give clear detailed information you don't make it to first base. You say its been turned down by the RRG, why? Roofer, plumber, losses, condos, etc. Do you think that is not material? You don't say if the insured is commerc...

Frankly, your client has few if any options. With 50% uninsured subs, to underwriters he is a dead man walking. Presuming that condos and/or apartments are not an issue, he has his choice of [1] the BCIC -- the new risk retention group -- which is not rated and of little interest to his GC's; [2] a ...
