Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
No problem Lone, I don't have any hard feelings. Just know that sales are all that counts in our business. Also, again (in case you missed it) we had 95% retention last year with this model so don't worry about our retention. Insurance agents are just like travel agents, people DO NOT appreciate us ...

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
Lone calm down, I am just stating the facts and if you don't understand that advertising expenses are much costlier than those associated with customers service then you don't run your own agency. Also, we get full commission from every carrier that handles our customer service (95% retention last y...

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
rodgwag, I am with you, as far as I wish I did not have to do any service work. Keep in mind carriers do not like to pay agents anyway, and certainly I believe they are constantly looking at the bottom dollar cost they are paying agents for renewal service commissions as it is. But by heaping more ...

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
Is it possible for all to agree that the billing is between the company and the client, and that whenever possible the client should call the company billing line directly, or go online to obtain billing info and make payments when possible. Billing is the number one waster of time in our agency. I...

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
Rodrag, Congratulations if you are writing commercial insurance with this method. Wish I could, I have one account that requires 150 certs. of Insurance per year (happy to have it though). Are you contracting out this type of service? If so where?? Personal lines customer service is handled by the ...

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
Not at all, people expect a good insurance company to have its own customer service and retention continues to be great. We are sales people not baby sitters; this is the future.

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
I'm not an Agent nor broker. However, I found the topic is funny ! I've been in the industry for over 20 years, mostly in Carriers' side and MGA, include a little experience in Agent side. It does not matter which side one is in, people should remember that Insurance is a "Service" busine...

Re: Adding Value? Who Cares? And, who gets mad?
We are independent insurance agents and our firm agency policy is to not provide any advice or assistance whatsoever as we are not authorized to by contract with the insurers, we are not trained in the claims process and other than providing basic claims information that is out there on the interne...

Re: Adding Value? Who Cares? And, who gets mad?
I never get involved with claims and I let every insured know that up front. If he or she wants to file a claim let them. Either way if you don't get involved with claims you will sleep like a baby.

Re: Personal Lines - Renewal Letters? E&O Prevention
In a recent court case in California a judge decided that agents are not responsible for reminding clients to make monthly payments, renew, or add coverage for a new item not previously insured unless the agent has done so in the past. In other words don't hold your clients hand unless you want it t...

Re: Do you use online leads services?
OldIndyAgent, you rookie, why didn't you name the 12 companies in your post? Do you even have your own agency (don't say yes if you only sell regional carriers because that would be sad)? As for Europe, they are inherently less sleazy than we are so they have laws in place that force them to be more...

Re: Do you use online leads services?
The facts: 1. Presently there are only 8 insurance companies offering direct insurance quotes online to the public (4 of which refer you to one of their local agents); I sell 20 in California alone. 2. All of the comparative insurance websites are just marketing firms that deceive potential prospect...

Re: Do you use online leads services?
I tried quotewizard myself for my auto insurance. Within minutes of my online request, I had quotes in my e-mail inbox from Geico & Esurance. If I was not already with Progressive, I'm sure they would have had a quote to me in minutes, too. Its hard for agents to compete with the technology and...
