Customized Personal Auto

Young CA driver born in 1989 - 2 at fault accident in 2008 - just purchased and has loan for a 1994 jeep for $13K. The jeep has been customized (suspension, engine, etc) and evidently is worth $13K. Farmers won't touch it because the endorsements which we would usually use are only for CA Good Drive...

Re: Need a Work Comp Wholesaler

I'm a Farmers agent too. When I can't write it with Farmers I call Delinda Watts at Northwest Comp. Can't say enough good things about her.

Re: Property Managers

I did get a quote from PHLY for professional liability - and you are correct in that the BOP only covers office exposure. USLI does the same thing. So far I have not found a carrier which will write both - without the designated premise endorsement. Looks like we will purchase (through wholesaler) t...

Property Managers

I am looking for a solution for property managers. I have quotes from E&S brokers which pair two seperate carriers to cover E&O and GL. I am wondering if there is a carrier which will write both.

Comm Auto

One of my contractor clients was suprised to find out that he must add each driver to his current comm auto policy. He was miffed because he claimed to have had a policy, before I insured his business, which insured all drivers of his trucks (mostly pick-up trucks and a smaller dump truck). He says ...

Re: Condo as Vacation Rental

Foremost has added a line which addresses vacation rentals - but only for a single family residence. They will not write condos.

Thank you for the good info - I will re-contact the insured and let him know I now have viable options.

Re: Are directors of a non-profit corporation at risk?

While it is a great idea to illustrate the need for D&O insurance by pointing to articles written by capable professionals like Scott - it might really help your sales process if you cite state law specifically. It is a good idea to become familiar with the law in your state. Are you in CA? In C...

Re: Statutory W2 Employee

I should have given an update last week. Thank you all very much for posting. Last week I spoke with a CPA and I reviewed the current policy along with the proposed policy. The CPA's position is that the "statutory" employee is technically an employee of the firm - who enjoys some benefits...

Re: Commercial appointment setting

I have been using Beacon for over a year. I have "done my time" on the phone - telemarketing, xdating, etc -and I am happy to be paying Beacon to do that part of my marketing now. Off the top of my head I would offer the following advice regarding Beacon. First, be up front and detailed wi...

Statutory W2 Employee

I am working on E&O for a mortgage pro who is a "statutory W2 employee". I am in the process of procuring his employer's E&O policy to review and determine how it will or will not protect my client in a claims scenario. Hopefully I can determine how much, if any, and what type of E...

Special Event Policy for Fireworks Booth

I am working with a small non profit here in Northern, CA and I have a current quote for GL but their yearly fireworks fundraiser booth is exluded - which begs the question, is coverage available through a special event policy for this particular type of risk? If I can bind coverage on the GL knowin...

Re: Condo as Vacation Rental

Great suggestion. Thank you, Swymmer.

I am still curious as to whether anyone knows of a good carrier or wholesaler to take vacation rentals to. I have had 3 requests in the last 2 weeks. Lexington can't be the "only game in town" for vacation rentals, can they?

Condo as Vacation Rental

Does anyone have a suggestion for where I can take a vacation rental risk? This particular risk is a condo at Northstar in Truckee. It is rented approximately half the year to vacationers/skiers/snowboarders staying 1-7 nights per visit. Farmers won't touch it because it is a vacation destination. H...
