I started my own agency last year as well. Similar years of experience. Have acquired 4 or 5 good markets. Homeowners is tough, but I did contact several carriers even though I did not meet their requested qualifications. Some talked with me, others put me off and some told me to get back with them ...

While many of us in this forum could answer your question or offer advise, this is (in my opinion) an issue which would be better answered by your States Department of Insurance. One of their many functions is to assist with disputes/complaints, etc.

I have referred to this link many times over the past couple of years. Barry Klein has done a terrific job with bringing this all together. Carriers, MGA's, vendors, publications, etc.

I ran into the same situation.....all the carriers I spoke with were asking for $10,000 + in annual premium. Tough when you are just starting out....heck, tough even if you have been around a while. I finally went through my loca IIA chapter (Independent Insurance Agents) and got an excellent policy...
