Sunday night and I haven't had a chance to check in since posting. I had already started the Installation Floater info/app. I posted to make sure I was taking the correct horse on this issue and I see that I am. Thanks for all posts. 8) Rather than a Builder's Risk policy, we issue an Installation F...

Re: Insurance books/learning tools
Have you tried http://www.irmi.com/ Hello Everyone, I am looking to buy some insurance related books/texts. I already have a lot of the insurance institute books (the ones for the aai are great), but can anyone recommend any others? I sell personal and commercial lines and wish to have a more in dep...

Re: talk to your underwriter
I always send pics. I can't talk with UW's becuase I broker the stuff. This happens numerous times. In many cases the inspector has no idea of business operations. They may recommend doing things that make no sense from a safety standpoint, are redundant, maybe impossible to do, or just plain stupid...

Re: Personal Lines
<I just wrote a $9,900 homeowners yesterday without leaving my office and by making one phone call to Chubb.> How was Chubbs UW on that property. I do have a property that will meet Chubbs appetite. The problem is they've been overseas since June and the renewal was in August. They don't get back un...

Re: Underwriters vs. Loss Control
Today I asked where they would want the emergency lighting. They could not give an answer because they didn't know where they wanted the emergency lighting. Underwriters and Loss Control consultants seldom agree. This is just another prime example of internal company personnel not working tog...

The lowest premium quotes...I know better what was I thinkin
Last month during a renewal quote (I don't do them every year) I moved a pizza shop / restaurant with an apartment on the second floor. There was a bid from a local mutual company that was very, very competitive. Great I thought...I like riding in wearing that white hat. This shop has been with me s...

At 15% I can assume that you aren't working for an agency. I don't work for an agency but neither can I meet the annual commitment of too many different ins companies. Therefore I broker business. If you broker business I would be interested in how you get 15% on brokered business? We make all are m...

As my buddy that has a Nationwide agency said yesterday, he considers personal lines to be a loss leader and so do I. Nobody makes money on a $400 premium. Personal lines are a commodity market, viewed not as what you as an agent know but can you save me $10. The largest agency in our town has stopp...

I think I'll go back to commercial stuff. Thought I'd do some personal lines stuff but far to many requirements from the people that do the quotes. before they'll quote they want pictures and they want a completed replacement cost estimator form. Of course then you have the apps themselves. It's lik...

Erie and do companies buy the business
Ouch! I was quoting an AO/HO/Umbrella against Erie. I took the pictures, I did the cost estimator and came up with a dwelling replacement value that is $50,000 higher than Erie. I increased a few more coverages and came in $54 higher than Erie. Ok, that's not bad because the dwelling is now at a goo...

Re: signed rejection of stacked uninsured/underinsured motor
<<a signed rejection of stacked uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage>> <<each time a new vehicle is added to a policy>> So if a customer calls and tells you they bought a new car, it can't just be changing autos. A new form must be sent, completed and endorsed to the policy. Well isn't that some...

Contractor allows others to drive cube van
I had a contractor ask me about the use of his cube van. Sometimes he will leave the landlord use it to deliver his goods (rarely). Sometimes he will allow a subcontractor to use the cube van to take supplies to a work site. I'm wondering what pitfalls there are that I may not have hit upon with him?

Re: Is there responsibility to inform a non AI entity
Please view the post where I requested UW add as AI but was turned down because the policy form already addressed the AI issue. Is there responsibility to inform a non AI entity. I have a client that is about to be cancelled for non-payment. The policy is in mid term, three different times (e-mail, ...

Re: AI's
Oh I just went back to the question. I thought we were talking about language on the COI but you were questioning the policy language.
LadyBroker wrote:But that language is on the certificate of insurance, not in the policy.
