Churches - Texas

Post by Patty »

I am an independent agent in Texas. Our office write several churches. Our standard markets are non-renewing the church auto coverage because they no longer want the Hire and Non-Owned Auto Liability exposure, and we are unable to find any non-standard markets that will quote/write this coverage either. The "church program" markets we have approached (like Zurich) have not been helpful because we are located in the Gulf Coast area and they will not provide windstorm coverage for the property line of business. Is there a solution to this problem :?:

I don't know a whole lot about the markets in the Gulf Coast, but you may want to try GuideOne Insurance which is the largest writers of Churches in the country.

Might I suggest that you place coverage with your church program for everything except the wind. For the windstorm perils, you can go through ICAT. They are an admitted market with competitive rates (provided your risk is tier 1 or tier 2).

Quite honestly, aside from the Texas Windstorm pool and the ICAT, windstorm coverage is almost impossible to get in tier 1, and it's getting that way for tier 2 risks.
