Windstorm coverage in central and SE FL

Post by Advisor »

Who's writing windstorm coverage in central and SE FL areas (i.e. Daytona Beach down to Vero Beach)?

Everywhere I call I get the same answer: we're not offering wind. Where is all the wind coverage? Seems crazy that the most dangerous place to be (on the coast) is the most likely to get that insurance.

Thoughts from the crowd?

Last one I did recently- I couldn't get wind so I had to send the insured to Citizens Property Ins Corp 888-685-1555. They have to write the HO or Condo with it ( to get wind). I had used Lexington previously but this one fell into the "zone".

Sorry - should have stated it better. I meant windstorm coverage for properties outside the wind pool. Yes, Citizens is there but obviously they won't cover outside the 1000' zone. Like I said, seems crazy that the properties in the riskiest places have a better chance to get the insurance most necessary for this area.

If it's not in the "zone" I use Fla Risk Specialtists 813-322-4812 FX813-228-6408. They use Lexington on the ones we have done. They can tell you from the address of risk given if it can have wind coverage or not. Hope it's a bit helpful.
