Suggest contacting a MGA that handles w/c. Grey-Stone or AmWins are ones to consider. If you consider the referenced PEO above, ask how much experience they have in this specific type of risk, and what they will do to help get the mod down.

Big Dog is right

There are serveral things to consider when choosing or exploring a relationship with a PEO. Some good guidelines can be found on napeo.org. This is the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations.

With an Emod of 123% there aren't many choices. Is the fund unwilling to write? If so they probably belong in the assigned risk. Either way with the amount of time you're putting into this one - you're already in the hole. Unless this is a relative this is not the type of account I would be trying to sell to an underwriter.

there could be some unusual reasons why his emod is so high. He could be a 19 yr vet in his business with great safety procedures and just recently took some serious losses and that does happen. I think there is more to looking at someone just off their emod. One advantage of using a PEO, is that we work with the business owners and provide risk management to him instead of selling him a policy and telling him to have a good day. We educate on safety and get a commitment from the owner to buy into intensive risk management procedures. Now we are aligning ourselves for a longer and prosperous relationship becuase over the next couple of years we can get the emod down and give him cheaper rates becuase we know his commitment to safety and his improvement of his emod. So while you turn down business like this I have to say I love it! Anybody can get work comp for the best of the best emods but you have to really get your hands wet and want to help someone other than yourself when you deal with higher emods...now there are numbers that are just way to high for me that I tend to stay away from but I will still take a look at it and see why. Beleive it or not I saw and e-mod the other day of 2 something. It was a balet school or group.
