ebix.com is an agency management software program. I signed up in November of Last Year and they couldn't perform on my contract but didn't refund any of my money. Just asking to see if this is a trend or if I am alone.

I would be interested in learding more about your experience as we are going to evaluate that system later this year. What type of insurance do you sell and what were the problems?

I've heard similar stories. Think Applied Systems, 10,000 + agencies using Applied, they must be doing something right.

I would also like to find out what folks think about Ebix. I'm looking at it later this month. I'm a one person agency and AMS 360 was $10,000 the first year! Unbelievable!

I've heard good things about Ebix over the years. However at some point in mid-late 2004, I found out they moved some of their business overseas and I believe, began writing insurance directly. I'm willing to be wrong, but it seems to coincide with what I heard from other agents & brokers about less leads coming out of them.

A good place that I have found that provides decent leads can be found at http://www.isleads.com. They provide Auto, Life, Home & Health insurance leads.

Their leads are decent. However they can't provide volumes in every neck of the woods of the US, so if they run into areas where they just can't deliver, they will give refunds. So that's fair.

It's the old school business model in play - you don't take money for something that you can't deliver.

I live by that rule and that's how I play the game.
Hope it helps.

I suggest that you stay away from;

I have had nothing but trouble with them.

They right away debit your cc for 250.00 then (in my case) give you a non working user name & password. They do not respond to e-mails & do not answer their phones.
