GL - rated vs underwritten?

Does anyone know of any GL markets, anywhere in the country, that use rated products rather than underwriting to arrive at a premium? Anyone selling online direct to businesses?

Explain a little more..... are you talking about an internet based sales organization? A distributor? GL (premises only for a importer or distributor?) would still need to know general product lines being sold (ie. automaotive, medical, toys, etc)

Yeah, I mean internet based primarily. Do any companies write GL direct to businesses instead of through MGAs? Looking for countrywide coverage but regional might work too.

Sorry for being vague, looking at CGL for contractors (general and specialist) & artesans mostly.

I think you will find that the internet based products will generally be cheaper, but the coverage form will be VERY restrictive (but, there is a place for everything). I would say it would be in your best interest (and in my view a professional obligation) to offer both to your client and point out the differences.

Most GL policies (typically those based off ISO) provide coverage for the continental US, its territories and possesions. It depends on the carrier that decides whether they want to offer such coverage for a contractor who operates all over the country. Reasons why they would not would be either not being licensed in some states, or the extra expense of claims handling.
