As far as i know, Arrowhead is the best for writing GC because they write on occurence Form and they are the cheapest. Now the questions is: What GA writes with Arrowhead and do you know of any other carrier that will write a GC that subcontracts 40% or less.

If you are talking about Lincoln General through Arrowhead, remember that it is an occurrrence form with manifestation wording.

I understand. As far as i know Arrowhead doesn't appoint new agents. I was wondering if there is a GA that writes WITH Arrowhead

Arrowhead is the GA and Lincoln General is the Insurance Company. Arrowhead appoints their agents.

The Arrowhead/Lincoln General Policy is not something you would want to purchase for one of your Contractors. The Manifistation Clause in this policy is nasty. Your client would need to continue renewing the Lincoln Policy forever. I suggest you Contact Arrowhead and secure a copy of the endorsement.

NorthAmerican Capacity writes Contractors as well as NIC, Gemini (no ground up).

Hope this helps.

Wolfegrade is right. The manifestation clause is nasty. I have picked up a lot of business by pointing it out to contractors. Most insureds and agents do not understand that the clause basically turns it into a claims made policy.

Hey there ....

I compete on price with this program all the dang time.

id love to see the endorsement ....

We even attempted to get an Arrowhead Appointment, and did. We were not able to successfully place any risks there though. It went by the wayside ... but I see them all the time now.

Anyone have a copy of the Manifestation clause?

As of 9/1 they are offering "The New Standard" form that does not include the manifestation provision but the rates are increased 15%. They should stil be very competitve on small artisans and small (less than 4 per year) homebuilders. Its admitted paper and they offer direct bill, that alone makes it better than NIC, etc in my opinion.

Beware of Arrowhead/Lincoln General's new policy form. Effective Sept 1, they are now offering the "classic" plan and the "standard" plan. A lot of their marketing would lead you to believe that the "standard" is a full occurrence policy, but it is really just an alteration of the manifestation policy. I strongly recommend reading the policy if you sell to contractors in California.

sanddog1 had mentioned CBIC and Financial Pacific as alternatives to Arrowhead and they are great alternatives to Arrowhead, but the problem is that CBIC requires 5 years clean loss runs with no lapses and a credit check. Financial pacific is selective about the territories they will write. I would recommend BTIS as an alternative for your artisans, but their rates aren't that great for B license remodelers. And I don't think they will write custom home builders in their Victory program. Also, I've heard rumors that they are filing for admitted status with the DOI.

I respectfully disagree as i use them both. CBIC Ins, will also do new venture newly licensed contractors and yes A credit report is required and should be.. And for current contractors they will look at 3 years and 5 years depending on your class. You can't do better on the rate with CBIC. They don't want looooooser contractors looking for a quick bind so they can get paid. Any company writing remodelers and ground up construction now require a credit report. As for FIN PAC, yes they are territories selective but again it depend on the class of business. As for BTIS yes they do remodelers and have programs for ground up construction and now have and Admitted carrier addition to non. I am appointed with all.

I ordered a specimen policy on the "new standard" and it is a CG 00 01 10 01 policy with no manifestation clause included. If you have information to the contrary, I'd love to see specifics.
