Internet Security

Post by FFA »

I am leasing a printer. The printer is constanly breaking down, the scan function in particular. I started asking for this machine be removed from my office about 90 days back. It continued to break down. They want to start charging me for Tech vists.

I used Desk Top printers/scanner in the past and have never had any issues at all.

In my opinion, the sales rep did a poor job of assessing compatibility with the tech that was existing in the office. The company has a different opinion. They think I should adapt my tech to their machine.

Last week, a new tech came in to fix the problem. He stated that the problem is with my fire wall and virus protection. He stated that the manufacturers fire wall and virus protection were adequate. The carriers I work with disagree.

Has anyone had an issue like this? How was it resolved?

sounds like you are dealing with some moronic techs. in what way is the scanner not working? is it jamming or just not scanning correctly? what is their tech saying is wrong with your firewall and virus protection? is it blocking the scans? you need to be a bit more specific.

It seems that internal configurations should be checked by well educated tech, which does not look like the case here. Exact problem definition is something missing here.

FYI,
We have two networked Brother laser printers, each less than $500, one black and one color. Been in service with regular inhouse maintenance for 3+ years. We also have an HP color copier $300 in service for 5+ years. Our scanner is a server networked Fujitsu, $300, and awesome fast.

I'm guessing your paying A LOT MORE for leasing and service than if you just bought the equipment. Most offices don't need those big fancy standalone do it all machines anyway.
