I got a call from the guy at "insurancephoto" who offered me to subscribe to their photo by email program. All i have to do is to send them the address of the property, anywhere in california and they will email me 5 high quality pictures of this property. The cost is $15 for 5 pictures or $80 per month with unlimited requests. Should i do it?

Not a bad idea if you're writing a ton of property coverage or your carrier requires a photos prior to a bind. Do you use globeexplorer.com? In my business you can subscibe for less and see the bunney girls a Hugh's house. 8)

Always be wary of someone else taking photo's for you. Back in the 80's I was an underwriter for a prefered company and my territory was a state on the other side of the country. At that time the company used the services of Equifax to obtain photos & surveys of property. Reputable company.... We began to discover that a lot of the photos were of the same properties.... There just isn't a better substitute for the agents own eyes.

Hello -

I checked out Globexplorer.com and it looks like a fee service. Unless the photos are better than all the other satellite photos I've seen I know of a great free service.

Check out http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ Lots of images, good resolution on most.

kevinraz. terraserver is terrible. Bad resolution, black and white... I prefer google earth. Besides, I think InsAgentSF wasn't looking for aerial photos like google-earth or terraserver.

I get a spam email every month or so from a company called Fastsnap (http://www.fastsnap.com).

They are a network of photographers that take pictures at what appears to be a reasonable price. They are growing, but I don't know what areas they service right now.

I think the satellite photo options wouldn't be very helpful because most of them aren't very current.

The fastsnap program sounds similar to the insurancephoto program. If you pay per order, you can't go wrong if you try it out.

I've never used this service, so I'm not necessarily recommending it, just passing along the info.

I use Fastsnap. They are good, reasonable, and fast. They charge like $15 for front and back of a home.

I have used FastSnap many times. It saves me the time and trouble of traveling across Los Angeles for photos, a trip that could take 1 to 3 hours. My time is worth more than the $15 I pay them for a set of photos. You can fins coverage areas and costs directly from their web site http://www.fastsnap.com

Its worth a try.

Just make sure that when they show up to shoot your homeowner's pics, that they can shoot the pic and leave out the illegal trampoline and the unprotected swimming pool that will undoubtedly void the policy...
