Preferred auto market

Hey folks I am new to the site and been an agent for about a year in the Orlando area. The one trend I am noticing is I am going against the 1800 #s more and more as of late and it seems that I am losing out more and more. I think one problem is my actual preferred company is AIG and i did not know what other company is going to be competitive against these companies. I tried Mercury but they don't even want to talk to me until I get a million dollar book.
IS there a way to get access to these carriers through a good MGA or other way. Thanks for your help!
