You should check out Insurance Journal's new site for tough market searches, MyNewMarkets.com. It's a search engine designed specifically for the insurance industry. On the main page, I did a search for "general contractor gl" and selected the state of CA. Over 99 GAs offering this popped up! Check out the results here:

What kind of work is your GC doing? New Commercial or New Residential?

DFCORBY in Fullerton, Orange County has the State National GC/Sub/Artisan GL program that does both residential & commercial. The insurer is admitted and "A" rated. We witten quite a few contractors with him in the past month or so. As I'm in Sacramento and a direct writer with limited reach so I have no hesitancy in recommending him....especially if you are in Southern California. His website is http://www.dfcorby.com .
