Agency's Ownership status

Is there a way to find out who owns the agency and if the agency has ever been sold?
I assume you're in Texas. You can probably check on the Secretary of State's website as long as you have the corporate name. The information sometimes has the registered agent (who may or may not be the owner), but if you can access the annual reports, they are usually signed by the president or VP of the corporation.
May not be true in Texas, but this is how you can find the info in a lot of states.
