thoughts on ppo and pos plans

I'm involved with negotiating a collective bargaining agrement as a rep for my union and one of the main sticking points is whether or not the PPO that we've had for twelve years as an option will even be a viable choice within the next few years. My question for anyone on this board is will the PPO type plans go the route of the Traditional and HMO plans and disappear due to the higher cost of these plans as compared to the POS plans?
