Post by Porter »

Does anyone have good ideas on how to get referrals from mortgage and escrow referrals?

Please help?

Many of my producers work with escrow offices and real estate brokers. I'm pretty sure they slap on some extra fees to make up for the referral fees under the table. I see that on the finance agreements..

Talk to some of the escrow/real estate guys and tell them you can help them help their clients. Try to talk to commercial specialists rather than residential.

Just be prepared to deal with last minute requests, "I need to close this escrow by 4:15 this afternoon"!!!!!! The more of those you have the more your underwriters will hate you... :x . just kidding :)

Porter, I'm sure you wouldn't do business with just a face and a card, would you? Oh, wait, I'm in sales...

I would get to know the local ones and get them to trust you. They probably won't give you the calls/referrals just 'cuz you're a helluva guy and slide them some cash every once in a while. Try to show them you're confident and knowledgeable about your product and they'll swing some business your way. Keep in mind, you're not the only one hitting them up for referrals...

BTW, as far as cash goes, and I may be the only one to say this, be careful if you do this b/c if you're gonna give $50 for a referral, you may get the "bottom feeders" every time a real estate agent/broker needs some quick cash; you may get a name for the sake of getting a name.
