Trying to get an average in agencies of how many CSRs are needed for both personal & commercial - i.e commercial book is $3 mil & have 3 part time CSRs; personal lines-$2.7 mil/2 full time. (Am gathering info to help my boss make a decision on whether to hire more CSRs or not). What do your agencies have??

I would suggest looking at comission revenue per employee. The P/L process as automated as it is, allows a higher revenue/# of accounts serviced as compared to a C/L servicer. Another factor would be the type of C/L accounts your agency has. Additional considerations -
Do the accounts need babysitting?
What skill level is required for the position?

This type of info is readily available from The Academy of Producer Insurance Studies (http://www.scic.com). Numbers vary depending on region and agency size. Based on your premium size $6 million, I would expect commission revenue is around $750,000. Your P/L book should require around 3 full time CSRs. National average is around $125,000 commission per csr in personal lines. (Maybe only 2 if you use a carrier service center). Your C/L book should require around 1.5 to 2 full time csrs. National average is around $250,000 commission per csr in comm lines. If small c/l accounts make up most of the book, it should probably be 2 csrs, if large accounts, then probably 1 csr. Hope this helps.
