What are your thoughts about InsuranceNoodle? I like the option of direct appointments without blackout periods that one faces if they go the SmartChoice/SIAA/Iriquois options.

You guys that want to become and agent...These other brokers and agents are exactly right. You need to learn and you need a substantial book of business to be appointed with any large and well-known carrier. This is the only reason companies like statefarm, allstate and yes poor old farmers even existent. Hungry for new blood and knowing the chances are very high that a new agent will not succeed. And they get to keep the new business. Open the phone book go to the nearest broker with a large quiver of carriers and work a deal. Yes there are company like JE Brown, Pacific Specialty, Blue Cross and many life companies that may appoint you with no production requirements. You will have to demonstrate how your going to write business with them and understand the Acord forms and coverage's.

What about the p&c area? Sanddog1, what do you suggest? Is Insurance Noodle or AgentSecure a viable option? We already work through brokers for life insurance and we are appointed with Anthem because we are a financial planning firm.

Thanks

OK look i don't have time to beat a dead horse. You can do one of three things,1) hire a P & C person who won't get your company into E & O trouble, and learn from him or her. 8) 2) Partner up with a broker like, the guy offering a connection with several carriers including; Safeco of America. Now that's big.
I would do this over any webb based insurance program like: Insurance Noodle and all similar, I don't use and never have or will. I would quit this business if that was my only choice, you can't compete against me with those types of site if you're chasing commercial. :? You will lose commission, insureds and control. 3) join PIA or some other cluster, you need to know and understand Acord forms clearly. I think for you guys i would have a long chat with the guy offering a deal and access to his carriers like Safeco. http://www.insurancefromhome.com. I dont know have this guy or his agency but you should check out

Hosanna, I am sorry that you tried to find our site and couldn't. We are already near capacity but will consider you if you are located in Florida. We are presently trying to build a twenty-count agent force there. You can email me directly for more information or you can call my desk and I will personally answer any questions that you may have.

I placed the web-site back onto the internet this morning to give you a chance to read about the opportunity. If you reside in Florida, please complete an online questionnaire and I will call you. In Florida we presently represent Safeco, Encompass, Progressive, Bristol West, AIG, and very soon Mercury.

Before you start asking the questions about ownership, number of accounts, etc. you need to decide what area you want to be in. Do you want to work primarily with Life & Health or P&C? Are you a detail person or just want to sell & let someone else handle the rest? Once you establish what you want then you can determine where you need to go to get it. Go find your local PIA or Big I president - or better yet the local exec who usually was an independant agent - these people will have the answers to your questions.
