The Senior Director of Agent Insurance Supervision – WFG Canada is accountable for the supervision, implementation, and oversight of the insurance activities of the World Financial Group Insurance Agency of Canada Inc. ("WFGIAC"), within the assigned provinces of Canada. Advocate policies and procedures and oversee WFGIAC agents to comply with policies and procedures, respecting the distribution of financial products and services in Canada. May be named the "Designated Representative" (DR) for assigned provinces in which WFGIAC operates. As the acting DR, communicate with provincial regulators and respond to inquiries as it relates to DR duties.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement an insurance field supervisory strategy that aligns with the regulatory expectations of the Canadian insurance regulators. Partner proactively with key business leaders, Legal, and Compliance to maintain an effective control structure and suggest ways to mitigate risks.

  • Manage the pre/post-sale insurance suitability review process to ensure insurance sales align with needs-based selling. Design and implement programs and structures that create synergy between cross-functional work groups.

  • Oversee the management of periodic supervisory branch audits and client file reviews to verify alignment with WFGIAC's guidelines. Coach supervision managers and analysts as they provide supervisory training on identified issues and other topics.

  • Follow-up and impose corrective measures, such as agent heightened supervision, resulting from deficiencies identified during office inspections, surveillance activities, client file reviews, etc.

  • Escalate timely and appropriately to WFGIA Canada's President and Chief Compliance Officer the agents' activities that do not comply with WFGIAC's policies and regulations.

  • Prepare and present reporting and trending data to WFGIA leadership and regulators.

  • Partner with Compliance and Legal to provide direction, input, and guidance in establishing supervisory policies and procedures. Prepare for and assist in internal and external regulatory audits, examinations and other compliance testing initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of compliance by promoting awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements to field leaders and agents. Influence and drive discussions on compliance topics with field leaders and agents.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the WFG Field Insurance Supervision team ensuring team members have the training and tools required to perform job duties. Lead the team with strategic vision, operational excellence, and accountability. Identify, lead, train, develop, coach, and reward team members.



Qualifications


  • Ten years of insurance and compliance/supervision experience, including senior level management responsibilities

  • Six years of relevant management experience

  • Life, Accident, Health licenses in assigned provinces

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian provincial insurance regulations

  • Outstanding written and oral communication and relationship management skills to work with business partners, Compliance, Legal, and field leaders



Preferred Qualifications


  • University degree in a business field

  • Senior director level experience within an insurance company or managing general agent

  • Securities licenses and certifications

  • Bilingual or multilingual - fluent (oral and written) in French, English, Punjabi to complete required job duties and to communicate with a diverse agent and employee base. Expected to complete most business transactions with WFGIA in English, as management located in Ontario and in the US speaks English for daily/frequent communications



Working Conditions


  • Hybrid office (2 days a week- 5000 Yonge St- North York)/remote environment

  • Valid driver's license and vehicle required for branch review travel (approximately 20%)
