Job Description

The Senior Trial Attorney represents insured and the Company in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and any Allstate insured cases. The position prepares for and conducts hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documents
• Prepares witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials including expert witnesses
• Keeps claim business partners updated on case status (initial client contact, initial and supplemental litigation plan, recurring contacts, strategy conferences, pre-trial, final pretrial orders etc.)
• Regularly contacts clients to discuss their case and answer any questions
• Review new file assignments, claim files, documentary evidence, and approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and/or develop strategy
• Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation as appropriate
• Draft pre-trial motions
• Try and/or arbitrate cases, prepare routine and dispositive motions, case and facilitation briefs, prepare motions in limine and summarize documents
• Attends settlement conferences, court hearings in person and / via Zoom, facilitations,  mediations, arbitrations, etc.)
• Prepares for and attends court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.)
• Ability to travel within the Western Michigan area, as well as the Metro Detroit area

Education/Licenses:

• 4 -year Bachelors Degree (Required)
• Juris Doctor (Required)
•  License to practice, and in good standing in the State of  Michigan

Experience

• 5 or more years of litigation experience (Preferred)
• First or second chair trial experience
• Ability to multi-tasks, prioritize and manage a large pending
• A team player and willing to work effectively and efficiently with others

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $85,600.00 - 152,650.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
