American Mold Guard

Mold prevention company American Mold Guard Inc. added two new service centers along the Gulf Coast to aid in post-Katrina restoration and new home construction efforts.

AMG opened the new service centers in St. Bernard Parish, La., and Biloxi, Miss., to meet the demand for mold prevention expertise, which has risen rapidly since the company opened its first location in New Orleans shortly after Katrina.

AMG uses non-toxic antimicrobial surface coatings that shield building materials from mold growth that remain effective for multiple years. Jim Licciardi, owner of Lash Homes, a Louisiana-based builder of custom housing, said he needs the mold prevention guarantee when he goes to the bank to complete a sale.

According AMG, prior to the hanging of interior drywall, it uses soda-blasting technology to remove any visible microbial growth from all wood surfaces before applying its antimicrobial material.
