Aon, Valley Oak Systems
Aon entered into a letter of intent agreement to acquire Valley Oak Systems of San Ramon, Calif. It expects to consummate the transaction by January 31, 2007.
Valley Oak Systems (VOS) offers claims management software, services and support for the insurance industry. The acquisition of VOS follows the successful integration of Risk Laboratories LLC (RiskLabs) in 2004.
Gallagher & Co., Connolly & Co.
Itasca, Ill.-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. recently announced the acquisition of William H. Connolly & Co. of Montclair, N.J. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the written release.
William H. Connolly & Co. is a retail insurance broker offering commercial and personal insurance products and services as well as employee benefit packages and individual and group life and health coverage to its clients located throughout the Northeast. The company specializes in programs for healthcare providers, metalworkers, universities, not-for-profit organizations and law firms.
William H. Connolly, Jr. and his staff will continue to operate in their Montclair location under the direction of Douglas B. Brown, vice president and Northeast regional manager of Gallagher’s Brokerage Services Division – Retail.
SeibertKeck, Kohl
SeibertKeck, based in Northeast Ohio, recently announced its merger with Jack Kohl Agency Inc., effective Jan. 1, 2007.
The Jack Kohl Agency will remain at its Ravenna headquarters and will be known as Jack Kohl Insurance Agency moving forward. SeibertKeck sells commercial and institutional property and casualty insurance, security bonding, professional liability, and life and benefits insurance.
Jack Kohl Insurance Agency is a locally owned and operated agency that specializes in personal, life, health, and property and casualty insurance.
Gallagher & Co., Mid America Group
Itasca, Ill.-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. announced the acquisition of Mid America Group Inc. located in Philadelphia, Penn. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Established in 1970 as an employee and executive benefit consulting firm, Mid America Group now offers a wide range of employee benefit consultation and brokerage services which include life insurance, group benefits, and financial planning services. Alvin Block, Gary Block and their associates will continue to operate in their current location under David Ziegler, eastern regional executive vice president of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc.
Zurich, Spanish Surety Group
Schaumburg, Ill-based Zurich Financial Services Group signed an agreement for the purchase of Spain’s ACC Seguros y Reaseguros de Daños, S.A. based in Galapagar, Madrid.
Family-owned ACC has been in business for almost 20 years with branches in Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia, and has a current annual premium income of approximately $20 million.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the transaction which is expected to close early in 2007.
BW Insurance Agency, St. Paul Agency
Bank of the West recently announced its wholly-owned subsidiary, BW Insurance Agency Inc., (BWIA) has acquired St. Paul Agency Inc., a full service insurance agency involved in insurance, risk management and asset protection, based in St. Paul, Minn. The St. Paul Agency offers a variety of commercial and personal lines, bond, life and health insurance products and serves over 3,500 families and business concerns in Metro Minneapolis and St. Paul.
BWIA currently operates within ten Bank of the West branches in Minnesota. In the Twin Cities area, insurance products,services will continue to be offered from the existing St. Paul Agency.
Zurich, Endsleigh
Schaumburg, Ill.-based Zurich Financial Services Group announced the signing of an agreement to purchase all of the remaining shares in the insurance intermediary Endsleigh Limited.
Zurich acquired a 45 percent stake in 2002, and said it would now buy the rest of the shares held by the management team as well as the shareholdings of the National Union of Students (NUS), represented by 5.3 million students.
