ASI Lloyds

ASI Lloyds (ASI) of St. Petersburg, Fla., is entering the personal property insurance market in Louisiana. ASI was a recipient of the Insure Louisiana Incentive program.

ASI plans to begin writing new homeowners and swelling fire policies in Louisiana in the second quarter of 2008. ASI President and CEO John Auer said the company specializes in catastrophe exposure management.

ASI Lloyds Inc. is a subsidiary of American Strategic Insurance Corp. domiciled in Florida. It recently was upgraded to an “A-” (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating by A.M. Best. The ASI group specializes in homeowners insurance and has more than 320,000 policy holders in Florida, Texas and Colorado. The company is also a Write Your Own (WYO) Flood Service Provider nationally.

National Insurance Partners

National Insurance Partners (NIP) has opened an office in San Antonio as part of the firm’s effort to expand product offerings and its presence in the Texas marketplace.

Melinda Garren was named director of Service for the San Antonio location. Prior to joining NIP, Garren worked for almost 15 years in the retail insurance arena with the majority of those years serving commercial property and casualty clients in various industries for one of the largest independent insurance agencies in San Antonio.

NIP plans to open 15 offices in the U.S. by the end of 2008 by acquiring and partnering with successful and high quality property and casualty insurance brokerage firms, and by 2010, have more than 100 locations across 50 states.

NIP is a Texas-based risk management, corporate governance, and financial solutions firm with offices in Houston, San Antonio and Austin. The firm specializes in board of director/trustee protection, directors’ and officers’ liability insurance, property and casualty insurance, risk management, executive compensation consulting, executive and employee benefits.

MetLife Auto & Home

MetLife Auto & Home plans to introduce a new enhanced homeowners insurance program in the state of Texas.

Under the MetLife Auto & Home Residential Property Program (RPP), agents can work with customers to tailor a policy that better fits an individual’s unique needs. For example, customers in Texas will be able to select MetLife Auto & Home’s “Coverage A plus” option, which provides coverage for the full cost to repair or rebuild a house if it were destroyed, regardless of the limit of liability.

In addition, consumers in the high end market looking for dwelling, condo or leasing coverage will be able to choose from Platinum products that offer the advantage of combining certain types of coverages, such as automobile and homeowner policies.

To support the rollout of the MetLife Auto & Home residential property program, the company seeks to expand its agency distribution channel with the addition of independent agencies and career agents.
