Sloan Mason

Sloan Mason Insurance Services, a San Diego-based managing general agent and wholesale insurance broker, opened an office in Sacramento, Calif., to introduce specialty programs and coverages for underground utility contractors and related entities; ready mix manufacturers; and other difficult to place casualty business. The new office will target business in Northern California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

Michael Tourtellott will be responsible for overseeing the office.

In an expansion of its Southern California operations, Edgewood Partners Insurance Center (EPIC), a retail property and casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage firm, opened a new office in Los Angeles. Chris McTigue was appointed managing principal, Ray Skarzenski was appointed principal of operations, and Mike Blecher was appointed principal.

McTigue is responsible for business development, managing client relationships and leading the Los Angeles office. He has served as an executive with international brokerage firms. For the past 12 years, he was an executive vice president at Aon Los Angeles.

Skarzenski is responsible for overseeing EPIC’s property and casualty insurance activities, including developing and maintaining relationships with clients and insurance carriers. A 28-year veteran of the insurance industry, Skarzenski has handled property and casualty insurance coverage focused on the defense contracting, health care, automobile manufacturing, railroad, waste hauling, and oil and petrochemical industries. Having worked abroad in Europe and Asia, Skarzenski is experienced in the operations of the global insurance marketplace.

Blecher’s responsibilities include new business development, assisting clients with insurance plan choices, as well as building and maintaining client relationships. His 30 years of experience covers all aspects of work in the maritime industry. He has specialized in intermodal transportation and logistics, hospitality, real estate development as well as the oil and gas businesses. Previously, he was a managing director for Beecher Carlson in Los Angeles.

AIG

AIG Landmark, a unit of AIG Commercial Insurance, said it will begin offering multiline insurance products to the agribusiness industry segment, including grower/packer/shippers, processors, handling and storage operations, and suppliers and vendors of agribusiness-related products and services.

AIG Landmark said its coverages will include general liability, umbrella, property, inland marine, auto liability, auto physical damage, and workers’ compensation.

“Our goal is to provide a multiline approach and a complete product offering to agribusiness clients,” said Steve England, president, AIG Landmark.
