Farmers

Farmers Insurance Group of Companies will build two new buildings and add an estimated 1,600 new jobs at its location in Caledonia, Mich. The company said the development is attributable in part to an attractive incentives package offered by the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC).

The firm will break ground this fall on a 175,000 square foot office building that will house a call center, a training facility, a branch of Farmers Credit Union and a fitness facility, as well as a 100,000 square foot print and distribution center.

BF&S Insurance, IPRF

Tinley Park, Ill.-based insurance broker BF&S Insurance (Boyle, Flagg & Seaman – www.bfsins.com) has been named the exclusive marketing agent for the Illinois Public Risk Fund (IPRF).

Thomas P. English, president of BF&S, has been a marketing agent since IPRF’s inception in 1985 and serves on the board of trustees as secretary.

IPRF is the state’s largest risk pool for workers’ compensation coverage and more than 450 public entities and governmental agencies throughout Illinois. Participating entities pool their exposure and control costs through unified loss prevention and claims management.

Westrope

Kansas City, Mo.-based Westrope has established Westrope General Insurance Agency in Irvine, Calif.

Westrope General Insurance Agency is a multi-line wholesaler providing binding authority programs and small brokerage placements throughout California and surrounding states.

Kevin Westrope, president and CEO of Westrope and president of Westrope General Insurance Agency LLC, explained that the company is capitalizing on the success it has had with Westrope Insurance Mangers of Florida.

Pat Piccinonno and Joseph Weckerle, Jr., both veterans in the Southern California insurance, are leading the efforts for the new operation.

State Auto

Columbus, Ohio-based State Auto Insurance Companies is now offering flood insurance.

The company noted that every property in America is in a flood zone, with some simply at greater risk than others. Just an inch of water can cause thousands of dollars in damage to a property and its contents, which is not covered by a typical property insurance policy.

The flood insurance policies offered by State Auto are underwritten by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and administered by National Flood Services (NFS). NFS been serving as a third-party administrator for carriers like State Auto since 1985.
