Worldwide Facilities, Privett

Worldwide Facilities, a Los Angeles-based independent surplus-lines broker and managing general agency, acquired assets of Privett Special Risk Services, a New York City-based wholesaler.

Privett Special Risk Services was founded in 1997 by Don Privett. The firm’s management and staff will all join Worldwide Facilities.

Worldwide Facilities said the acquisition will help the firm’s geographical expansion and further establish its presence in the New York marketplace.

In addition to its Los Angeles headquarters, Worldwide has offices in San Francisco and Irvine, California, Seattle, Washington, Phoenix, Arizona, Chicago, Illinois, St. Louis, Missouri, New York, New York and Atlanta, Georgia.

Brown & Brown

Brown & Brown of Pennsylvania Inc., a subsidiary of Brown & Brown Inc., said it acquired assets of Moten Associates, an independent agency in Norristown, Penn.

Founded in 1970, Moten Associates offers surety bonds, as well as a wide variety of property/casualty insurance products, to clients throughout the Delaware Valley and the eastern United States. The company has combined annual revenues of $1.1 million. The firm’s management and staff are expected to join Brown & Brown of Pennsylvania offices in Plymouth Meeting, Penn.

Brown & Brown Inc. is an insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Daytona Beach, Fla. Brown & Brown Inc., through its subsidiaries, offers a broad range of insurance and reinsurance products and services.

Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance

The Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance (SIAA), a national alliance of over 4,000 independent insurance agencies, said six new agencies in the northeastern region became members in March.

These new members are: Keane Insurance Agency of Enfield, N.H.; Bott Agency of Brookfield, Conn.; Concrete Insurance of Baltimore, Md.; Penna & Associates Agency of Johnson City, N.Y.; Joseph J. Kenyon of Worcester, N.Y.; and D&L Insurance of Fredricksburg, Va.

For the 2012 first quarter, 102 agencies became new SIAA members across the country. SIAA members created more than $780 million in new premium growth in 2011. Since it’s inception in 1995, SIAA has signed over 4,000 new members. SIAA is dedicated to the creation, retention and growth of the independent insurance agency distribution system.

Northern United Agents Alliance

The Northern United Agents Alliance (NUAA), an independent agency partnership based in New Hampshire, added Barton Insurance Agency as a new member.

Founded in 1954, Barton Insurance Agency has been offering insurance service to the Lake Sunapee and Contoocook areas in New Hampshire over two generations of family ownership.

Headquartered in Concord, N.H., the NUAA is an alliance of independent insurance agents. The NUAA partnership was formed last year with four founding agencies in New Hampshire: Clark-Mortenson Agency; Davis & Towle Group; Eaton & Berube Insurance Agency; and The Melcher & Prescott Insurance Agency. The alliance has grown to include six agency members.

National Financial Partners Corp.

New York-based National Financial Partners Corp.’s subsidiary, NFP Property and Casualty Services Inc. (NFP P&C), acquired Illinois-based Ameribonds Surety & Insurance Services (Ameribonds Surety).

Ameribonds Surety is a surety and insurance services business headquartered in Mt. Vernon, Ill. Ameribonds Surety utilizes a web-based platform to act as an intermediary to place business, predominantly surety, policies.

Great American Insurance Group

Great American Insurance Group opened a New York City office for its environmental division. The expansion complements the division’s home office in Plymouth Meeting, Penn.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, the operations of Great American Insurance Group are engaged primarily in property and casualty insurance, focusing on specialty commercial products for businesses, and in the sale of traditional fixed and indexed annuities and a variety of supplemental insurance products such as Medicare supplement.
