Liberty International Underwriters

Liberty International Underwriters has set up a Dallas-based operation dedicated to handling Global Crisis Management (GCM) business for the southeastern and southwestern United States. Led by Tom Dunlap, assistant vice president and regional manager for southeast and southwest regions of LIU Global Crisis Management, underwriters will have local decision-making authority for Contaminated Products; Product Recall; and Kidnap, Ransom and Extortion (KRE) insurance.

Dunlap is joined by Underwriting Officer Karen McCullough and Underwriting Specialists Jan Lovell and Kim Gardner.

The Dallas operation is the latest addition to LIU’s Global Crisis Management offering that includes offices in New York and San Francisco as well as Toronto, London, Sydney and Melbourne.

Powter Insurance, Jordan and Jordan

Powter Insurance Inc. has acquired Jordan and Jordan Insurance Group of Frisco, Texas.

Jordan and Jordan Inc., which will continue to operate separately under its current structure, operates both commercial insurance and tire and motorcycle wholesalers divisions.

Linda Wu, former president of Jordan and Jordan, will join Powter.

CEO John Powter said the firm continues to target for acquisition agencies that enhance Powter’s cross-selling abilities and provide value to the combined customer base.

RLI, Rockbridge Underwriting Agency

RLI Corp. has acquired Houston-based Rockbridge Underwriting Agency, a managing general agency specializing in medical malpractice insurance.

Rockbridge specializes in surplus lines medical malpractice insurance for individual physicians and physician groups with unique needs. Rockbridge offers coverage in all 50 states through a network of retail and wholesale brokers. RLI estimates that Rockbridge will add approximately $20 million of premium per year to its business.

RLI, a specialty insurance company, offers a diversified portfolio of property and casualty coverages and surety bonds serving niche or underserved markets. RLI operates in all 50 states from office locations across the country.

MarketScout, CIPC

Dallas-based MarketScout, in cooperation with insurers ACE, AIG and Fireman’s Fund, has founded the Council for Insuring Private Clients.

CIPC will focus on implementing best practices and risk management techniques for insuring the personal assets of private clients.

Any agent or insurer with a focus on insuring high net worth private clients may join the CIPC.

CIPC will hold its first annual conference in Dallas on April 9 and 10, 2013. The conference will provide networking and educational opportunities for agents and insurers who specialize in insuring private clients.
