Time to Hit the Road in 2004 for Regional Conferences

They are an opportunity to network, learn the latest in company mergers, new products, legislative news, and much more. Oh yes, they also offer a chance to get the heck out of the office.

Industry conferences abound throughout the Southeast in 2004, and Insurance Journal Southeast takes a look at some of the headliners.

Florida-based NCCI Holdings, a nationwide managing database of workers’ compensation insurance, presents its Annual Issues Symposium 2004 on May 6-7 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando. The event will offer timely, relevant presentations from a variety of speakers, an in-depth analysis of the State of the Line, and opportunities to network with other industry stakeholders and NCCI staff. The Florida Association of Insurance Agents will celebrate its 100th birthday June 17-19 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

Along with breakout sessions, guest speakers include: Mike McGavick, chairman, president and CEO of Safeco; Scott O’Grady, who was helping enforce the NATO no-fly zone policy in the skies over Bosnia when a Soviet-made anti- aircraft missile slammed into his F-16. Capt. O’Grady tells his incredible story of how he survived in hostile territory for six days before being rescued by the U.S. Marines; Louise “Bebe” Canter, president of IIABA; and Mitch Albom, author, nationally-syndicated newspaper columnist for the Detroit Free Press, and nationally-syndicated radio host for ABC and television commentator.
