  • A drunken Pennsylvania pilot who reportedly buzzed his single-engine plane in close proximity to a nuclear power plant and disrupted the flight paths of half a dozen airliners has been sentenced to six to 23 months in prison. The pilot was reported to have had a blood alcohol level of 0.15 percent when he landed after an erratic, four-hour flight on Jan. 15 over the Philadelphia region. Pennsylvania’s legal limit for drivers is 0.08 percent. The Keystone State, however, doesn’t have laws concerning drunken flying, and drunken driving charges against the man were thrown out. The pilot was convicted of risking a catastrophe and reckless endangerment. He must also serve five years probation and undergo alcohol counseling, following a judge’s ruling.
  • A pair of men have been arrested and charged with dumping dirt in a national forest in Idaho. According to the U.S. Forest Service, it is illegal to dump any materials, dirt included, on federal land. The pair reportedly moved the dirt from a garage location and dumped it under a tree in the forest, even spreading it out with rakes to make it more pleasing to the eye.
  • Finally, “Honest Abe” does bring in an honest buck or two still to this day.The Lincoln portrait, painted in 1863, is reportedly the only known print to exist showing the president seated in a chair with his head posed on his hand.
