According to the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas, on Sept. 30, 2004, there were 168 eligible surplus lines insurers (including Lloyd’s) operating in Texas compared to 166 at Sept. 30, 2003. In addition, there was a 15.1 percent increase in overall premium and a 5.6 percent increase in average premium per policy as of September 2004.
