Guglielmo Dead at 96
Former Louisiana Insurance Commis-sioner Dudley Anthony Guglielmo Sr., whose government career dated back to the days of Huey Long, has died at the age of 96. The Associated Press and The Advocate reported that Guglielmo died July 30 at his home.
He went to work for the Long administration in 1930. He held the position of administrator of personnel and finance until 1940. He then served in a variety of state positions in what was once the combined officer of secretary of state and insurance commissioner.
Guglielmo succeeded Rufus D. Hayes as insurance commissioner in 1964 and served until losing an election bid in 1971 for a third term to Sherman Bernard. He later ran a consulting business for insurance companies.
He is survived by a daughter and two sons.
