Homeowners Insurance Agent Directory

August 22, 2005

InsureMyHouse.com, an informational Web site about homeowners insurance, recently started an online directory of homeowners insurance agents. The directory started in Pennsylvania and is now open to all 50 states. It’s working with several insurance advisors to gather relevant information for the site’s visitors. The “Learn the Basics” section contains articles such as, “Understanding Credit,” “Enough Coverage,” “Lightning Strikes,” and more. It’s organized by state and zip code. Insurance agents can go to www.insuremyhouse.com/ faq.html to learn about registering. The site is now listed on over 300 specialty Web sites such as real estate sites, home inspection sites, and mortgage sites.

Liberty Mutual Real-Time Quoting

Liberty Mutual Group’s Agency Markets business unit debuted two real-time quoting and submission options.

Peerless Insurance, an Agency Market company based in Keene, N.H., now offers auto, home, and package quotes and submission through Rackley Solutions’ SETWrite. Agents in 25 more states now have access to Agency Markets companies Colorado Casualty, Hawkeye-Security Insurance, Indiana Insurance, America First Insurance and Montgomery Insurance.

Also, Colorado Casualty, Hawkeye-Security Insurance, Indiana Insurance and Peerless Insurance can quote four lines of business through PRIORITY Data Systems’ Comparative Rating system, PriorityRate.com. Independent agents in Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and Wyoming are now writing auto, homeowners, package, and umbrella (in select states) with this technology. Nine of the states in the operating territories of America First Insurance and Montgomery Insurance will launch the technology later this summer.

SETWrite and PriorityRate.com allow for one-time entry from agency management systems to obtain real-time quotes and related information directly from the regional companies. With its single-entry functionality, data entered to generate a rate is captured and ready for submission as part of the policy writing process.

With the addition of SETWrite and PriorityRate.com, agents can now use these third-party intermediaries, use their own proprietary management systems, or use the regional companies’ agent portals.

RiskMeter Adds States to Report

CDS Business Mapping LLC, a provider of online property risk mapping, added Illinois and Pennsylvania to its ‘distance to fire station report’ on RiskMeter Online bringing the total number of states to 22. The distance between a property and the primary fire station directly affects an insurance carrier’s loss ratio, according to CDS. By typing in an address, RiskMeter Online produces a detailed report of drive distance to responding fire stations, their names and staffing (career or volunteer). CDS believes this report will guide carriers to decide whether a location is protected or not.
