The Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Co. named Thomas H. Grimstad, M.D., as its new president and chief executive officer. Grimstad will succeed John E. Lemoine, M.D., effective Jan.1, 2008.

Since its founding in 1982, only three other physicians have led the Louisiana-based medical malpractice insurer. Prior to Lemoine, other leaders were Gerald R. LaNasa, M.D. and Robert L. di Benedetto, M.D. Grimstad has 30 years of experience in the medical industry, both as a practicing physician and LAMMICO staff employee. Prior to joining LAMMICO as senior vice president of Underwriting in 2005, Grimstad worked in the private medical practice of consultative pulmonary disease at the West Jefferson Medical Center.

In addition to Louisiana, LAMMICO also provides medical professional liability insurance in Arkansas.

Eddie Monteith, a 20-year insurance veteran with extensive experience in executive and professional liability issues, has joined the Houston office of privately held independent insurance broker Lockton.

Monteith will be a senior vice president in Lockton’s financial services specialty team. He provides counsel to publicly held firms on corporate governance issues, as well as director’s and officer’s insurance, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability and crime coverage.

Monteith, of Galveston, Texas, has spent the past 20 years with insurance broker Marsh, most recently as a senior vice president in the FinPro team. He worked with Johnson & Higgins before it was acquired by Marsh and also worked with Arthur L. Owen, an insurance broker in Dallas. He began his career as a surety broker.

Toni Campbell is the new Marketing and Sales director for Dallas-based Maverick Surplus Lines Inc., a specialist in wholesale nonsubscriber program business and services.

Campbell will be responsible for appointing new agents throughout Texas to sell the firm’s products, including non-subscription insurance and TPA services consisting of claims, loss control and risk management services, according to the company.

Campbell has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience. She joins Maverick from RISC Inc. in Dallas where she most recently served as Marketing manager. In addition to agency experience, Campbell’s career includes numerous positions on the standard market company side. Campbell’s extensive experience includes positions with Gulf Insurance Group, Zurich American Insurance Group and Continental Insurance.

Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation (LWCC) promoted Geoff Jorgensen to business unit manager for the company’s small accounts production team.

In this position, Jorgensen will be responsible for managing a multi-functional team consisting of underwriting, customer service and administration.

Jorgensen had been an underwriting specialist at LWCC, where he has worked since 2005. Previously, he was a marketing underwriter for FCCI Insurance Group and a commercial property and casualty underwriter for Southern Insurance Underwriters, both in Atlanta.

Chrys Halyburton joined Colemont Insurance Brokers in the company’s Dallas office as associate underwriter and broker with the Transportation team.

Halyburton began his career with Seaboard Underwriters in 1967, specializing in commercial trucking coverages. For his entire career, he has been involved with underwriting, serving in positions that include director of Underwriting for Transport Insurance Co.; director of Transportation, Underwriting and Marketing for Vesta Companies; and most recently, regional V.P. for W.E. Love & Associates.

Robert Bramlett was announced as this year’s Oklahoma Industry Service Award winner by the local Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society, Central Chapter of Risk Insurance Management Services and Insurance Women of Oklahoma City at the All Industry Day Oct. 30.

Bramlett is a second generation insurance agency owner in Ardmore, Okla. He has served as a state president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma and has been active in the Young Agents of IIAO.

Bramlett also has been a state director of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America and was recently elected to its Board of Directors where he will serve as president in 2012.

All new CPCU designees were also recognized at the ceremony: Brad Fast; Chris Johnson; Michael J Bills; David Liebl; Rick Eulbert; John C Newsom; Jack Buben; Veerachai Tanmongkolswat; David L. Webster and Jemima T. Waife.

Stacey Miller, a vice president of Dallas-based independent insurance brokerage, Roach Howard Smith & Barton, has been appointed to the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce (NDCC) Board of Directors.

As an NDCC-appointed director, Miller will be involved in setting chamber policy on everything from internal financial and audit procedures to local political issues. She will initially serve a one-year term, after which she will be asked to serve a three-year term as an elected director.

Miller is a vice president at Roach Howard Smith & Barton, which provides business insurance solutions to companies of all sizes and personal insurance to individuals and families. Her professional background includes more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry, during which she has specialized primarily in claims management and risk control.

Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. named Daniel S. Glaser, an American International Group executive who began his career as a Marsh broker, as chairman and chief executive officer of its insurance broker, Marsh Inc.

Glaser currently serves as managing director of AIG Europe (U.K.) Limited and the regional president of AIG’s American International Underwriters (AIU), UK/Ireland division. He joined Marsh on Dec. 10, 2007.

Glaser succeeds Brian M. Storms, who was forced out of the position in September. CEO of Marsh. Glaser currently lives in London and will relocate to MMC’s corporate headquarters in New York.
