Dayton, Ohio-based Norman-Spencer Agency Inc. recently appointed J. Patrick Malone as CFO. In his new position, Malone will oversee Norman-Spencer’s financial operations and manage the corporate accounting department.

Malone comes to Norman-Spencer from Indiana Insurance, a subsidiary of Liberty Mutual, where his most recent position was vice president, principal financial officer. His duties included responsibility for budgeting, planning, operational analysis, strategic reviews of business units, and the integration of an acquired book of business.

Norman-Spencer Agency provides property and casualty insurance services to clients countrywide, and has been developing and administrating industry-specific programs since 1981.

Mary Ann Krautheim has joined Aon Construction Services Group as its first National Client Strategy officer. Krautheim is based in Minneapolis.

In her role as National Client Strategy officer, she is responsible for refinement of best practices, benchmarking, risk financing methods and peer review — all to deliver a well-defined risk profile to clients.

Prior to her new position, Krautheim spent two years at Willis Construction where she served as senior vice president. Before her role at Willis, she assisted in creating the construction practice at Arch Insurance Co. and also spent ten years at St. Paul Cos.

State Auto Insurance Companies appointed David J. Hosler to oversee a seven-state zone based in Columbus, Ohio.

Hosler, zone vice president of the State Auto Middle Market Insurance (SAMMI) Central Zone office, joins State Auto with nearly 20 years of insurance industry experience.

He began his career as an underwriter with the Great American Insurance Group before becoming branch manager of AIG in Michigan. Most recently, Hosler served as director of branch operations for the ten offices of USG Insurance Services, residing in Beverly Hills, Mich.

Accident Fund Insurance Company of America named Richard Znidarsic vice president of information services.

In his role on the executive team, Znidarsic oversees all new technology and development, systems maintenance and support, hardware systems support, security and the customer help desk.

With 28 years of experience, Znidarsic joins Accident Fund from Sparrow Health System where he was associate chief information officer. His background also includes management positions in information services at New Hanover Health Network in North Carolina and Fairview Health System in Ohio.

Burns & Wilcox announced that Jeffrey Brown has joined the company’s Farmington, Mich., office as a broker. Brown will be responsible for placing business for large complex risks, including large property, and aircraft and automotive products.

Brown has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, including underwriting, and sales and marketing. Most recently, he was a program manager at Meadowbrook Insurance Group, located in Southfield, Mich. Previous to that position, Brown was assistant vice president at Marsh USA Inc. in Detroit. He also held underwriting positions at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. and Crum & Forster Insurance Co., as well as positions at other national and international agencies and brokerage firms.

Westfield Bank, a member of the Westfield Insurance Group, appointed Nancy Heinen and Billie Rawot as new members to its Board of Directors.

Heinen retired from BP p.l.c. as vice president of Marketing in August 2002. During her 26 years of service with BP, she held various marketing and operation positions including a broad scope of accountability in strategic planning, marketing, advertising, merchandising, category management, asset portfolio management and financial performance.

Rawot is vice president and controller for Eaton Corp. a global $12.4 billion diversified industrial manufacturer. Prior to joining Eaton in 1977, Rawot worked for Deloitte & Touche in Akron, Ohio and Ernst & Young in Chicago.

Privately held commercial insurance brokerage, Hylant Group, named Patrick Savage as the regional chief operating officer in Michigan. His position will serve Hylant’s offices in Detroit, Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, and he will be responsible for driving operational efficiency and consistency at the three offices, as well as at the corporate level.

Savage will oversee financial planning, forecast management and cost accounting for the region, while significantly contributing to the long-term growth strategies of Hylant Group.

Prior to joining Hylant Group in Ann Arbor, Mich., more than ten years ago as controller, Savage was the sales audit supervisor for Borders Group Inc. and a certified public accountant for Deloitte.

The Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson announced the retirement of Peg Ising, who has served as the department’s deputy director since May 2006.

Ising oversees fraud, enforcement and licensing; product regulation; market conduct; and consumer services.

Her retirement will be effective Feb. 1.

Lockton, a privately held independent insurance broker, added Mark Harris as a senior vice president and producer in its Chicago operation. Harris will be responsible for business development and client advocacy for law firms and other professional service firms.

Harris joins Lockton from Marsh where he spent the past 12 years in various sales roles, including most recently a position in Marsh’s National Producer Group. He is a Lloyd’s of London broker with extensive experience in providing insurance, employee benefits and risk management counsel to his clients.
