AIG Hawaii Insurance Co. Inc. is changing its name to Farmers Insurance Hawaii, Inc., heralding in a new chapter in the company’s nearly 55-year history, and reflecting its new ownership under national insurer Farmers Insurance Group, which purchased the company in July 2009. The company will officially begin doing business as Farmers Insurance Hawaii on Jan. 1, 2010.
“There’s been a lot of excitement as we begin final preparations to become Farmers Insurance Hawaii,” said Robin Campaniano, president and CEO of AIG Hawaii.
AIG Hawaii remains committed to its customers and Hawaii operations, maintaining all of its Hawaii-based services and ensuring that all of its branches statewide will remain open and fully staffed to serve customers’ needs.
“Our intent was to create a smooth, seamless transition for everyone involved,” Campaniano said.
Farmers Insurance Group is the third-largest personal lines insurer in the nation, with more than 15 million customers and more than $16.7 billion in gross written premium as of June 2009. The company has a financial strength rating of “A” by Standard and Poor’s and A.M. Best.
