Reported price to be paid by Deutsche Bank for AIG’s building at 72 Wall St. to a consortium of owners, including a South Korean investment banking firm that purchased the building last year. The building comprises one of the insurer’s two headquarters buildings – the other, 70 Pine St., is connected by a skywalk – in Lower Manhattan. Both buildings were built in 1936.

Amount allegedly stolen by Maryland insurance broker Francis X. Gartland, and an accomplice, from the Perth Amboy, N.J. school system. New Jersey Attorney General Paula Dow said the agent, who was indicted for the theft, defrauded the schools through an insurance scheme in which the district was billed for services that were never given. It’s the second indictment this summer for Gartland, who was also indicted for defrauding the City of Perth Amboy for $216,000 in a similar scheme.

Amount awarded by a Vermont jury to a turkey hunter struck by 52 shotgun pellets fired by another hunter. The verdict against Ralph Townsend, of Hartland, stemmed from a May 2008 incident in Woodstock. Townsend was sued by William Rea, of Barnard, who suffered a collapsed lung and other injuries. Rea’s attorney Ross Feldmann told the Rutland Herald the award was fair. At the time of the shooting, Townsend told game wardens he thought he was shooting at a turkey.

Number of summonses and arrests issued by Virginia State Police on Interstates 81 and 95, as part of a weekend crackdown on speeding last month. More than half of the tickets were for speeding. State police also reported stopping 628 reckless drivers and a dozen drunken drivers. A total of 248 safety belt violators were cited, and troopers made 15 drug and felony arrests.

Minimum number of condominiums damaged by a tornado that struck Mayville, New York last month, ripping the roof off one structure and causing power outages for nearly 13,000 homes. The twister also damaged a vacant restaurant on a nearby golf course. No injuries were reported from the storm, however.
