Synergy Benefits, Brown & Brown

Florida-based Brown & Brown has acquired Virginia-based benefits firm Synergy Benefits Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

Synergy, which has annual revenue of approximately $1.2 million, will merge with the Manassas office of Brown & Brown Insurance Agency of Virginia

Synergy Principals Bernie Dombrowski and Robert Hayward as well Synergy’s staff will remain with the firm.

Westfield Insurance

Ohio-based Westfield Insurance said it has expanded its commercial operations in Maryland, with new accounts being serviced from the company’s Pennsylvania office.

The firm said its existing surety accounts in Maryland will continue to be serviced out of the Richmond, Virginia service office.

Westfield has recently appointed 13 independent agencies to facilitate the expansion, it said.

Integro, Frost Specialty

New York-based insurance brokerage and risk management firm Integro announced that it has completed a merger with Frost Specialty insurance agency. Frost specializes in serving the music industry and located on historic Music Row in Nashville.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The agency was founded in 1980 to service the Country and Christian music industries. Its clients and services include the Country & Christian touring artists program, a group Copyright Infringement program and a Musical Instrument program.

The Frost agency also handles the personal insurance needs of clients in the entertainment and sports industries.

William Gallagher, Paradigm

Boston-based broker William Gallagher Associates has acquired Paradigm Associates, a health and welfare benefit plan consulting group headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Paradigm, founded in 1995, has a client base of 85 organizations with particular expertise in health care, technology and financial services.

Paradigm had 2009 revenue of $3.4 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

EagleBank, The Meltzer Group

Bethesda-based EagleBank has launched a referral program with another Bethesda-based business – insurance agency The Meltzer Group.

Through the arrangement, The Meltzer Group will quote and write major lines of insurance for EagleBank’s clients, the banking firm said.
