I love the way my agency handles everything!

That Lovin’ Feelin’

Everyone wants to feel the love. You work hard, always keeping the needs of your customers and employees in tight focus while building up your agency’s bottom line. You try to do the best for your business, your constituents and your community. Your ethical standards are high. The people who work for you are more than employees; they’re more like, well, family.

The nominees in Insurance Journal’s Best Agencies to Work For survey have all of the above qualities and more. Judging from the comments of employees who named their agencies as being among the best, the principals of these firms are surely feeling the love.

Here’s a sample of the comments:

• I love the way my agency handles everything!

• [M]y boss knows what he is doing. I respect his judgment; he is candid; he gives very constructive feedback; and frankly, having a great working relationship, which we do, is fantastic. It isn’t always easy, but it is fun and very rewarding!

• Leadership at this company is very fair and honest. They set a reasonable salary for agents starting up, and they keep their promises.

• It’s a team feeling instead of a rigid standard of performance. Everyone encourages one another to excel, and the performance reviews only reinforce that feeling.

• The atmosphere in our agency is hard-working, but also good people that have fun doing what they do. There is no cap on how much of a raise you get, it is judged on performance, timeliness, hard work and attitude.

• 100 percent access to the owners of the firm.

• Opportunity to learn, office hours, benefits, opportunity to advance, future growth/profitability.

• Chair massages, office lunches on occasion, dessert or treats brought in on occasion.

• I really love the fact that we have two performance appraisals a year to allow you to know where you stand with your job performance. The performance review allows expectations to be clearly defined and creates an opportunity for one-on-one dialogue between manager/supervisor and employee.

• Our office has a positive and stress-free atmosphere. … Our company looks to the employees for ideas and suggestions.

• Love how the agency puts the employee[s] and their families first.

• [A] fabulous place to work. The partners always show appreciation for producers and staff by providing numerous perks throughout the year monthly lunches, flowers, birthday and anniversary recognition, employee of the quarter acknowledgement, sales incentives and much more.

• A very ethical owner and management team with excellent long-term vision.

• We are a team, but we are also a family. I would never consider leaving this agency for another job.

Teamwork, family, chair massages apparently there are a lot of agency owners and managers out there who are treating their employees and customers right. So, go ahead, feel the love.
