The number of Category 3 hurricanes that formed in the Atlantic Basin this hurricane season. The 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, which ended November 30, was one of the busiest on record, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In the Atlantic Basin a total of 19 named storms formed – tied with 1887 and 1995 for third highest on record. Of those, 12 became hurricanes – tied with 1969 for second highest on record.

Wyoming’s rate of motor vehicle fatalities per 100,000 people. Wyoming leads the nation for that statistic, according the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis. According to its report, there were 30,797 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2009, in which 33,808 deaths occurred. This resulted in a national motor vehicle death rate of 11 deaths per 100,000 people.
