The Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner has adopted new online insurance licensing rules that affect licensed agents, brokers and insurance companies, and people who provide insurance continuing education and pre-licensing education.
All licensing will be conducted online, and the OIC will no longer be printing or mailing licensing documents, such as appointments or affiliations.
Applications and renewals for producer licenses will be done online starting June 1. Resident licenses will be processed through the OIC. Non-resident licenses can be processed either through the OIC’s Web site or through the National Insurance Producer Registry.
For insurance companies, new appointments, appointment renewals and appointment terminations must be done online starting May 1, 2011. For insurance education providers, all education courses submitted for approval must be sent in electronic format (such as an email attachment), starting Feb. 28, 2011.
